The Open Studios Rock Band Lessons

Rock Band A meets Tuesdays 4:30-5:30
Rock Band B meets Fridays 4:30-5:30
The Open Studios are located at 634 Humboldt st.
The recommended age for programming is 13-19 years old, however, if there is demand for a younger or older cohort, we may be able to accommodate in a separate session.
Clearly, we can’t have 12 guitar players in a band! You may be asked if you are available for the other time slot if it makes more sense in terms of instrumentation.
Adam began his musical journey informally, launching right into creating, recording and performing original alternative music in high-school. Later, he formalized his approach studying jazz music at Capilano University whilst continuing to push his various bands forward off campus.
Now, Adam offers learnings from both worlds- from the concert hall to the dingy house show basement. Whether you want to achieve a solid foundation of technique, decode tricky odd time signatures or how to properly prepare for a recording session, Adam will support you through it.
After graduating from Capilano University with a Diploma in Jazz Studies, Adam taught at The Bergthorson Academy of Musical Arts for several years before relocating to Victoria. Adam’s overarching concept is that music is itself a kind of mixing board. The mastery of an instrument is to tune the various dials of syncopation, tempo, heaviness, funkiness etc. with ease.”
Adam was also the founder of a Youth Music festival in Maple Ridge BC
“Adstock was a free, non-profit, alternative music festival that set out to encourage local youth to get involved in music. This was done by both reserving youth band slots in the lineup as well as volunteer opportunities within the organization. Adstock ran 15 consecutive years from 2005-2019.”
